# Job Description: Software Engineer – Java | BFSI

## Position Overview

We are looking for a **Software Engineer (SE) – Java** to join our technology team and work on enterprise applications for the **Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI)** domain.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in **Java development, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, databases, and enterprise application development**, along with an understanding of BFSI business processes and security requirements.

## Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based enterprise applications.

* Develop robust and secure applications using **Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and REST APIs**.

* Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

* Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions.

* Develop reusable, maintainable, and high-quality code following coding standards.

* Integrate applications with internal and third-party systems through REST/SOAP APIs.

* Work with relational databases and write optimized SQL queries.

* Perform unit testing, debugging, code reviews, and production issue resolution.

* Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA Engineers, DevOps teams, architects, and business stakeholders.

* Analyze application performance and troubleshoot technical issues.

* Contribute to application modernization, microservices, and cloud adoption initiatives where applicable.

* Ensure applications comply with BFSI security, regulatory, audit, and data-protection requirements.

* Prepare and maintain technical documentation.

## Required Technical Skills

* Strong knowledge of **Core Java** and Object-Oriented Programming.

* Hands-on experience with **Spring Framework / Spring Boot**.

* Experience developing **RESTful APIs and web services**.

* Good understanding of **Microservices architecture**.

* Strong SQL and experience with databases such as **Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL**, or similar.

* Knowledge of Java collections, exception handling, multithreading, and Java 8+ features.

* Experience with Git and standard software development tools.

* Understanding of unit testing frameworks such as **JUnit and Mockito**.

* Familiarity with Maven or Gradle.

* Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

* Exposure to CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms is an advantage.

## BFSI Domain Knowledge

Candidates should have an understanding of one or more BFSI areas, such as:

* Banking applications and digital banking.

* Payments and transaction processing.

* Loans and lending platforms.

* Cards and payment gateways.

* Core banking systems.

* Insurance applications.

* Customer onboarding and KYC.

* AML and compliance.

* Risk management and financial reporting.

* Account management and transaction processing.

## Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in **Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering**, or a related discipline.

* **2–5 years of relevant experience** in Java software development.

* Experience working on enterprise-scale applications, preferably within the BFSI sector.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

* Good written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment.

## Preferred Skills

* Experience with **Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT**, or other application-security frameworks.

* Exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.

* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

* Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

* Exposure to event-driven architecture.

* Understanding of application security, data privacy, and BFSI compliance requirements.

* Experience with performance tuning and production support.
